OUR JOURNEY
The values incorporated into the core of the brand find root in the creative vision of founder Muskaan Gupta. Being born in Faridabad, city in Haryana, to studying Bachelors in Fashion in Delhi, from observing her mother turn every piece of outfit into Art, Gupta’s global vision is deeply rooted in her traditions. After graduating from Pearl Academy of Fashion and working with the likes of designers like Pallavi Mohan and Payal Pratap, MusAl was officially born in August,2018. Visiting various cities of Rajasthan like Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Gupta has a thing for everything raw and classic and luxury, touching vintage, modernity and elegance at the same time.
However, its her sister Gazal’s untiring social entrepreneurial ventures and the simultaneous quest to merge the same into her sister’s design language which has been the guiding foresight for MusAl. And that’s how the brand’s name was derived – Muskaan + Gazal.
SUSTAINABILITY
We at MUSAL, upcycle factory waste into short limited edition products. Recycle post cutting scraps follows a process of segregating alike fabrics together and then combining those fabrics to create accessories like jholas, shoe bags, dust bags, fabric envelopes, face masks, tassels, etc. All our pieces and fabrics are made with ethical production units keeping in mind the basic labour needs.
The other way in which we work consciously is by working on “MADE TO ORDER” format for orders. We do not produce in bulk which leads to a lot of dump stock and hence waste of fabric and exhaustion of resources used in the techniques that lead to a finished product.
We also avoid using any man made fabric like synthetics, nylon, etc, which are poisonous to the soil when the product is dumped in pits when discarded. Musal uses all the natural fabrics like cotton, khadi, linen, lotus fabric, etc.
